Delays on trains between Ramsgate and Ashford due to cable theft

Cable thieves have caused disruption on Southeastern services

Southeastern trains are currently running at a reduced speed between Sturry and Minster after thieves stole 250m of telecoms cable from the railway near Chislet.

This has led to the disruption to services and a fault with the signalling system at Minster.

A Southeastern message to passengers says: “Trains are running at reduced speed through the area, with delays between Ramsgate and Ashford via Canterbury West as a result. Network Rail SE staff are on site and are working to fix the cable fault.”

Delays are expected to last until 1pm (since updated to 6pm). British Transport Police are at the scene.
