A man has died at the scene of a Ramsgate flat fire

A man in his 60s has died at the scene of a Ramsgate flat fire this morning (January 4).

Two fire engines attended the property in St Mildred’s Road at 8.14am.

Firefighters discovered a man had sadly died at the scene. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put the fire out.

Kent Police also attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 8.41am to a fire at a residential property in St Mildred’s Road, Ramsgate.

“Officers attended and provided assistance to crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service.

“A man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances are not being treated as suspicious. The next of kin has been informed and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
