Feature film to be shot in Thanet – and location properties are needed

Filming in Thanet

Filming for a BFI feature film based on an award-winning book will take place in Thanet next year.

True Things About Me is an adaptation of Deborah Kay Davies’ book of the same name, which follows a young woman living on the fringes of society who becomes entangled with a stranger.

The film will star Ruth Wilson as the woman called Kate in the film adaptation. She will also produce alongside Jude Law, The Bureau and BBC Films. It will be directed by  Harry Wootliff. Jude Law will not appear in the film.

Filming is scheduled to start in Thanet on March 16 and will run for five weeks. The crew’s main base will be in Broadstairs.

Location manager Ben Lee is searching for locations in Margate and Ramsgate areas for the shoot,

Each property will be required for filming within the five week period although length of time spent at each property will depend on which location they are matched to. It is a paid opportunity.

Properties needed

Kate’s flat – (estimate 1 weeks filming)  – Seaside 2 bed flat with a balcony. Ideally views of the sea. From what I’ve seen so far everything has been quite small. So something spacious would be ideal. Flat doesn’t have to be fancy or well finished. Should feel like a working woman’s flat, on a lowish wage.

Alison’s house – (estimate 2 days filming) – New build family home in a close or cul-de-sac. Bit boring looking.

Party house – (estimate 1/2 days filming) – Big spacious house. Little run down / arty / squat party. Ideally doesn’t look like a posh house from the outside. This scene will be at night and have a lot of extras – so ideally in an area where this isn’t going to affect too many people

Kate’s parents’ bungalow – Long grassy driveway on a quiet residential street next door to more of the same. Interior should be that of older people, slightly dated but very well finished.
