Thousands of visitors attended the opening weekend for Dreamland’s Winterland fun, say park bosses.

Visitors to Winterland Margate can expect fairy light walks, a winter market with festive food and drinks, yuletide crafts, free festive film screenings, Christmas trees, wreath making and more.

A selection of seasonal rides – Double Decker, Gallopers, Speedway, Chair-O-Plane and Austin Cars – will be running in the park.

There will also be a special giant Snow Globe that guests can climb inside ( this incurs an extra fee).

Dogs will also be allowed on the park with their owners throughout the festive period.

The park will also have a grotto with sessions still to come on December 14, 21-22.

The Grotto Experience lasts approximately 40 minutes, and will include:

  • Make your own all-natural reindeer food to take home for Christmas Eve
  • See Santa’s Elves in their workshop and help them make it snow
  • Take a photo with The Ice Maiden in an alpine-themed selfie zone
  • Meet Father Christmas and receive a premium gift, photo and certificate
  • Personalise your gift from Santa at the Teddytastic workshops

Grotto tickets cost from £22.50 + booking fee, and include the grotto, all winter rides open on the park, and free parking in the Arlington Car Park.

Dreamland Members receive 10% discount on tickets.

A relaxed session for those with sensory difficulties take place on December 14. The session will be as close to the general experience as possible, but will have reduced lighting and sound levels and smaller group numbers. It will also take place in the morning, before the other Grotto sessions, to allow visitors to move around Dreamland in a calmer environment with fewer visitors.

On December 21, at 2pm and 4pm, Margate Social Singing Choir will be performing favourite Christmas classics.

Would YOU Fry Hard?

Fry Hard is one of Dreamland’s seasonal food trucks for the Winterland Margate market, offering festive favourites deep fried to perfection!

Options include stuffing balls, pulled turkey, sprouts, pigs in blankets, mince pies and Christmas pudding with a variety of sauces.

Fry Hard – a cheeky twist on everyone’s favourite festive movie Die Hard – replaces the traditional fish and chip offer on the park for the festive period. And for less adventurous types, chips are still on the menu!

Opening times

Winterland Margate is open December 14th, 15th, then daily 21st – 31st (excluding 25 December), 12pm-6pm (12pm-4pm Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day)
