Emergency services were called to Ramsgate’s East Pier this morning (December 7) after a man caught his leg in the steps and ended up hanging upside down.

Ramsgate RNLI spokeswoman Karen Cox said: “A man was trapped by his leg hanging upside down on the Jubilee steps at the East Pier. All emergency services were called and he was lowered into the lifeboat safely.”

A Kent Police spokesperson added: “Police were called to Harbour Parade, Ramsgate at 3.31am  following a report of concern for a man. He was assisted by the emergency services and taken to a local hospital for treatment.”

Two fire engines and a rescue team were also called to the site and crews used a rescue sling to release the trapped man.
