As the art world prepares for the winner of the Turner Prize 2019 to be revealed during a ceremony at Dreamland tonight (December 3) an entirely different show kicked off proceedings.
Climate campaigners from XR Thanet, complete with a huge pink octopus, gathered outside to stage a Civil DISCObedience Flashmob.
Playing disco classics such as Staying Alive the group boogied there way along the road between the two venues.
Their event post says: “It seems like a fun and harmless way to draw attention to the fact that both Turner Contemporary and Dreamland (not to forget the rest of the low-lying areas in between) are very vulnerable to sea level rises.”
