Ramsgate town centre was jam-packed today (November 24) as people turned out for the Christmas light switch on.

Stalls, a snow globe, the land train and Christmas fun with Santa, face-painting and crafts were all on offer.

Live entertainment was hosted by resident Ralph Hoult with help from the cast of Act 1’s Cinderella, Taiko Rebellion drummers, Paul Dryden’s Christmas Roadshow, Hotsy Totsy, Bradley Bissett, Frank Tucker.

Mayor of Ramsgate Raushan Ara joined the throng to award certificates of appreciation to local groups and organisations including the town’s RNLI and the Crafty Poppies crew.

St Ethelbert’s School, St Lawrence College, Happily Ever After, Stage Door Arts Academy, Kent Show Choir and Little Rouge also took to the stage as did Miss Ramsgate and court and singer Dominque Simpson.

And, after numerous countdowns, the light display was finally switched on to loud cheers from the crowd.
