Art under the hammer for Palm Bay school fundraiser

Arts works by David Shillinglaw and Laurie Vincent

The third annual Palm Bay Primary School Art Department Fundraiser will take place at the Walpole Bay Hotel on Friday (November 22)

The event is hosted again by resident and renowned potter Keith Brymer Jones. The eagerly anticipated art auction has a well-deserved reputation for being a place to pick up a bargain. This year it has attracted more big-name artists than ever, with works by Andrew Curtis, Ieuan Edwards, Jordan Gray, Megan Metcalf, Charlotte Savage, David Shillinglaw, Laurie Vincent and many others going under the hammer.

Organised by artist and part-time teacher at Palm Bay, Melanie Tong, all proceeds go towards working with the school’s five artists in residence.

Melanie said: “Our children deserve a rich cultural education and thanks to the generosity of local people – from the venue owner to the artists who’ve contributed free of charge – this year’s fundraiser looks set to be the biggest yet.”

The event takes place at the hotel, in Cliftonville’s Fifth Avenue, from 7pm.
