BB guns seized during armed officer response to ‘threatening behaviour’ incident in Cliftonville

Two BB guns and a small revolver, suspected to be a starter pistol, were seized during an incident yesterday when a Cliftonville road was closed off by police.

Officers, including an armed response team as a precaution, were called to a home in Godwin Road at 4.15pm to deal with an incident of ‘threatening behaviour’. It was reported that a weapon had been seen.

Residents report around five police cars at the scene and say they advised to stay indoors

A 43-year-old man from Margate was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody as enquiries continue.

A police spokesperson said: “Armed officers attended, as a precaution, due to a report a weapon had been seen.

“As part of their enquiries two BB guns and a small revolver, suspected to be a starter pistol, were seized.

“The people involved are believed to be known to one another and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
