Fire crew attends blazing car in Margate

A fire crew has attended a car blaze in Margate.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Ramsgate Road at 1.36pm to the burning vehicle, which was opposite the entrance to Thor, by B&Q.

Resident Joe Holmes caught the crew in action on video.

A KFRS spokesperson said: “One fire engine attended and crews extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries and the cause isn’t known.”

The crew finished at the scene just before 2pm.

A Kent Police spoesperson added: “Kent Police was called at 1.46pm to a report that a car travelling in Ramsgate Road, Margate, had caught alight.

“The fire was safely extinguished by crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and officers assisted by enforcing a road closure. The scene was clear by around 2pm.”

  1. What a shame this old classic scimitar car caught fire. I saw it queuing in a line of traffic caught up by workman traffic lights just before this happened. It looks like the one that used to always be parked up in Newington Road near the Margate Road traffic lights.
