Nineties’ boyband 5ive to switch on Westwood Cross Christmas lights

Westwood Cross Shopping Centre has announced 90s boyband 5ive will be switching on this year’s Christmas lights. The event, which will take place on Friday, November 22, is expected to see thousands kick of the festive season in style with the band performing some of their biggest hits.

The shopping centre has previously welcomed a host of celebrity names to switch on the Christmas lights with more celebrity appearances expected to be announced soon.

Centre manager Francesca Donovan said: “We are thrilled to confirm that 5ive will be joining us to switch on our Christmas lights. We have been inundated already with messages from excited fans who spotted the news on our Facebook page.

“Each year we welcome thousands of guests to our big switch-on and we hope this year will be even bigger and better than ever. KMFM will be presenting the event, which will include competitions and entertainment guaranteed to get guests in the Christmas spirit!”

The centre has also announced the return of the Toy Fort Grotto, with its 6-metre high turrets. Open from  November 9 at noon, children can meet the Father Christmas and receive a special gift. It is recommended to book early, as the magical experience is expected to be extremely popular.

The Westwood Cross Christmas lights switch on will kick off at 4pm, with the big switch on at 6pm and the event due to finish at 6.30pm. The Toy Fort Grotto costs £4.50 per child and is available to book here www.bookfatherchristmas.co.uk/westwoodcross
