Police are investigating a report of criminal damage at Ramsgate cemetery.

Officers received a report today (September 23) and a warning, with photos, was issued on social media for people to check the graves of loved ones after a group of youths were said to have been removing items and hitting headstones with a lump of wood.

Many residents have since been to check on the graves of loved ones, with one person reporting items have been removed. Most of those carrying out checks say the resting place of their loved ones was not disturbed.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police received a report of criminal damage at a graveyard in Cecilia Road, Ramsgate at around 5pm.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what items have been damaged.”
