A new fair focused on clothes and goods for babies and children will be launched in Margate on October 5.

The We Are Family Market and Meet will have everything from baby clothes to nursery décor, bedroom prints and a mini pop up children’s studio.

There will also be baby and children’s handmade clothing, teething jewellery, vintage kids clothes, handmade baby quilts, mama and baby skincare and workshops.

The event, which will take place at the Margate Baptist Church (New Street entrance), has been created by mum-of-one Lorna Williams.

The former London police officer moved to Westgate a year ago and said she saw a gap in the market for a dedicated fair where parents could shop from local makers in a fun environment.

Lorna, whose daughter Betty is 21 months old, said: “I have always done vintage music and clothes and started making teething necklaces when I was still in London.

“I think Margate is the perfect place for the fair, it is a focal point and easy to get to from the other areas.

“I have met quite a lot of mums who are making kids’ clothes of nursery prints and thought it would be good to get it all under one roof, rather than buying online.”

The church has easy buggy access and  parents can meet up and enjoy cake and coffee.

Graphics for the event have been created by Thanet designer Beckyismyname, who will also be exhibiting, photography is by the isle’s Sheradon Dublin and there will be goods from local mums who also run small businesses.

There are goody bags for the first 15 people through the door. Entry is £1 for adults and children free.

The event is on October 5 from 11am to 4pm.
