A new series of monthly coaching lessons for budding Rory McIlroys is starting at Stonelees Golf  Centre this month.

The six-session course, which costs £25, will be run by the centre’s PGA Professional Gary Bason  and is open to boys and girls under 18 who currently  don’t have a golf handicap.

Participants can either sign up for the Wednesday evening sessions (6pm-7pm), which start on September 18, or for the Saturday afternoon sessions (2pm-3pm) which start on September 21.

Gary said: “The focus of the sessions will be to create a fun, welcoming environment in which to learn and improve the necessary skills to reach handicap level, and potentially play in county-organised Futures Events.

“Basic golf swing technique will be covered along with time on the golf course, with the option of using the centre’s indoor simulator should the weather be bad.“

The Stonelees course is one of five Autumn/Winter Junior Academies being organised by the Kent Golf Union across the county and for more details about all the courses, and an entry form, ring Sue at the KGU on 01797 357725 or email [email protected]
