Appeal for information and dashcam footage following violent assault in Westgate

Asa suffered injuries to his head in the attack

A Ramsgate woman is appealing for anyone with information to come forward after her brother was the victim of an attack in Westgate.

Asa Bailey had been in Paul’s Bar with workmates from All Access Scaffolding on August 30 but was assaulted after he left the venue.

His sister Vicky says he was attacked by three men who hit him with a hammer and stabbed him in the side of the head “leaving him for dead.”

The 24-year-old, from Ramsgate, was found unconscious close to St Saviour’s Church by an off duty paramedic at around 10.30pm.

Vicky said: “If anyone has any information please contact the police. As his sister I’m very upset this has happened and no-one deserves to be hurt like this, especially my brother.

“He is a working man and had just gone to have a beer or two and when he left to go home this horrific attack happened. It is unacceptable and outrageous. I’m determined to get justice against whoever these men are and will not stop until they are punished for such a horrid assault.”

Vicky said her brother is upset but recovering.

Kent Police confirmed officers are investigating the attack and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police is investigating a report of assault in Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate-on-Sea, on August 30 at around 10.20pm. A man in his 20s suffered a head injury during the incident.
