
Regulars and Margate mayor Mick Tomlinson braved the blustery weather on Saturday (August 10) to celebrate the opening of a new premises for barber Turk-ish.
The shop has made the move from 83 to 245 Northdown Road so the business can expand
Owner Ishmail Akyel said a growing flow of customers meant he could now take on a larger site.

The dad-of-two, who moved to Margate from Turkey ten years ago, has been a barber for 17 years and set up on his own in 2017.
He said: “All my regulars came to help me celebrate. It was stressful but it was worth it.
“Now I hope to grow and progress the business.”

The barbers, which is a play on his name Ish and nationality Turk(ish), also offers traditional Turkish fire to the ears, nose/ ear wax and face mask as well as shaves and beard trims.
