Westwood mum wants to bring some bling into people’s lives

Ciara is hoping to expand the business

A Westwood mum has combined her experience in sales with an interest in all things spiritual and fantasy to create a new business.

Ciara Watts, 40, and partner Mark Gull launched The Bling Parlour at the start of the year but are hoping to expand.

The business, online and at markets and fairs locally, sells jewellery and accessories in four sections – fantasy; love for all seasons; gullzskullz and moonchild emporium.

Ciara, who worked in sales and customer service for 20 years, says the desire to spend time with her eight-year-old son Fionn was the prompt to go it alone.

She said: “I want to spend more time with my son, he wants to go to clubs and I haven’t been able to get the time to do that. I want to be involved in his life more.

“So, we put everything into this, it is do or die.

“We spent about £5,000 on stock and have paid for the website. We are learning as we go but want to maximise the business through social media and local fairs.

“It was a concept that I came up with at a friend’s, who is a tarot reader. We were both on the cusp of doing something different with our lives.

“Bling Parlour is on trend and covers a lot of areas.”

The website has attracted customers from Europe and America and Ciara also has a full schedule of local events to attend.

Goods on offer include everything from skull necklaces and earrings to Wiccan, Pagan, Gothic and witch style jewellery and fashion.

Ciara also offers glitter tattoo parties. She said: “I am DBS checked and insured. I offer party bags with jewellery. Everyone gets glitter tattoos so they are not going home with bags of sweets.

“I have got lots of creative ideas and am confident I know the market so it is just about putting money back into the business now.”

Ciara says she also hopes to expand to produced branded jewellery.
