The Cliftonville Games, due to be held today (July 27) has been cancelled because of expected downpours.

The annual event was to take place from 12pm at the Oval Bandstand in Eastern Esplanade.

The Great Cliftonville Bake off competition, run by GRASS Cliftonville and The Margate Women’s Institute, will go ahead from 1pm -4.30pm after being relocated to the Tom Thumb Theatre, also Eastern Esplanade.

There are four categories: Technical Challenge, Signature Bake, Junior Signature Bake and Show Stopper.

Organisers say they are “gutted” but had no option due to predicted adverse weather conditions.
