A pop-up shop selling vintage children’s clothes and retro toys has opened in Margate Old Town.

Button Moon, based in King’s Emporium on King Street, was founded by Westgate mum Naomi Telling and sells second-hand shoes, wooden toys and clothes.

The 35-year-old grew up Margate and after a decade in London returned to the isle where she was  inspired to realise her passion for vintage. She said:  “I wanted to do something else that’s more interesting than the day-to-day. I have always been interested in vintage fashion  and Margate lends itself to that really well.”

Being a mum to two boys under the age of five Naomi started thinking more about kids’ clothing. She said:  “We buy so much new clothing and especially with children;  some feel they always need to buy new things, but there is such lovely stuff available. Quality leather shoes are sometimes hardly warn as kids grow out of them so quickly.”

She added: “I really love the wooden toys we sell as they are so expensive to buy new and it’s often cheaper to buy plastics.”

Naomi currently works part-time teaching drama at Simon Langton Grammar in Canterbury which allows her freedom to grow the business and even donate 25% of profits to internaional women and girls charity, Action Aid.

Button Moon is open daily from 11am – 5pm and will host a launch party tonight (Friday,12) from 5pm – 7pm.
