Discover the world of authors at Westwords 2019

Literary festival event

Westwood Cross Shopping Centre will host new literary event; Westwords 2019.

The event, which will welcome renowned local authors and writing groups, will take place on Sunday, July 14.

Westwords 2019 is the first of its kind at the centre and will allow visitors to experience the world of authors. The event is aiming to promote the subject of literacy across Thanet, to all age groups.

Centre manager Francesca Donovan said: “We can’t wait to host the very first Westwords event. We have an incredible line up of authors to inspire the local community, giving those of all ages an opportunity to learn from some of the most exciting local authors based in our region.”

Eight authors and groups will be offering meet and greets throughout the day, including Thanet-based novelist Carol Salter, who has worked with Westwood Cross Shopping Centre to organise the event. Accompanying Carol will be poets, Barry Fentiman Hall and Christopher Hopkins. The Inspirations Writers Group will also be in attendance, joined by published poet and artist, Laura Kestrel. Mark Holihan, a Californian poet and writer who now lives in Broadstairs will also be attending, alongside Thanet Writers and Tom McColl.

Westwords 2019 will be located throughout the main mall from 10am-4pm.
