Shakespeare on the Beach returns to Margate Main Sands

Shakespeare on the Beach

Shakespeare on the Beach returns to Margate Main Sands with The Winter’s Tale.

The story is set in Sicily and Bohemia and Leontes has everything a man could want, wealth, power, a family that loves him and friends. But he is not at peace. Inside he harbours a bitter jealousy that drives him to destroy all he holds dear. Many years later, in a distant country, a journey begins that may ultimately heal his pain and reunite his family.

The performance comes from  Changeling Theatre…and includes a hint of Abba!

The play contains Shakespeare’s most famous but challenging stage direction: ‘Exit, pursued by a bear.’

Changeling Theatre produces high quality, entertaining theatre in non-traditional locations for community audiences across South East England.

Its productions range from re-interpretations of Shakespearean classics to working with new writers and composers to create innovative new theatre.

Blankets aren’t permitted in the enclosed area and customers must provide their own chairs. Deckchairs will be available to hire for £3, fee to be paid to the attendant on the day.

A Winter’s Tale will be staged on Saturday, July 6 at 7,30pm.
