Mum’s plea of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility over death of twins accepted

Jake and Chloe Ford

The mother of twins found dead at a house in Westwood in the early hours of December 27, 2018, has had a plea of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility accepted at the Old Bailey today (June 11).

It means Samantha Ford, 38,  will not face murder charges in relation to the deaths of 23-month-old Jake and Chloe Ford.

Mrs Ford had been involved in a crash with a lorry on the A299 Thanet Way at 2.50am that day and was taken to hospital with a minor head injury. Following the incident, at 3.35am, police attended Mrs Ford’s home in Castle Drive, due to concerns for the welfare of the toddlers.

The children were found unresponsive and taken to hospital where they were confirmed dead.

Sentencing will take place on July 26 at the Old Bailey after further psychiatric reports.
