A 72-year-old mum and nan who has returned to Kent after 11 years away is relaunching her painting ambitions with an exhibition in Ramsgate.
Sandra Dean will show her collection of figurative paintings and drawings at the York Street Gallery from June 12.
Sandra attended art school at the age of 14 “in the days when art schools were not fashionable” but her career was put on hold for “family, motherhood and simply being female.”
Now she is hoping it is the right time to achieve her own ambitions.
She said: “I am newly back in Kent after being in Suffolk for the last 11 years. I have come back to my roots and my family which is great. East Kent is an area that I know but I have not lived here before and my exhibition at the York Street Gallery will be my first in Thanet.
“My work is mainly figurative and I have had a lifelong passion for painting. I am hoping that after years of helping others achieve their ambitions I can now pursue my own.”
Sandra Dean’s work will be on display from June 12 (opening at 2pm) until noon on June 19. She will be at the gallery on Saturday (June 15) between 2pm-4pm.
York Street Gallery is at 22 York Street, Ramsgate.
