Police have been notified after thieves stole a bike belonging to well-known Margate resident Maurice Morris.
The bike was taken from outside Tesco in Northdown Road at around 9.25am today (June 9).
Maurice, in his 80s, has lived in the town his whole life and can regularly be seen on his bike or pushing his trolley when delivering papers.
The bike is black and was only bought two weeks ago.
A Kent Police spokesman confirmed the theft had been reported.
They said: “At 9.25am today a bicycle was reported stolen from outside a supermarket in Northdown Road. Anyone with information should call 01843 222289, quoting reference 09-0419. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555111.”
We all know who these thieves are and the roads where they live ,why don’t the police?
They need evidence! If you know and have evidence let the police know as you will be doing Maurice a big favour getting his bike back.
I’m talking about intelligence based policing, but we are handicapped by margate police intelligence who are just a call centre of course.
Collecting evidence requires actually conducting an investigation and you know that is very unlikely to happen.
Poor Maurice what scumbags to do this to him,
Scumbags!
