Students from schools across the Isle of Thanet have gathered in Margate to join a UK-wide protest over climate change today (May 24).

Around 20 students joined the protest at the Clocktower, which was one of nearly 110 protests taking part across the UK. The young strikers are making their voices heard to raise awareness of how climate change will affect their futures.

The protest was well received by locals, with passing motorists and bus drivers honking their horns in support.
The first Youth Strike 4 Climate Change took place in February, including in Canterbury, and action in March and April followed. Youth Strike 4 Climate is a new environmental movement supported by UK Student Climate Network.
I’ve tried licensing 2 electric vehicles as Private hire vehicles in Thanet and have been turned down due to the licensing department rules on the size of vehicles, both cars could have licensed in London but not in Thanet.
It’s about time TDC have a policy rethink on the matter
Well done kids! It’s inspiring to see young people taking action, let’s hope the grown ups follow.
Kids I have full respect. You can change this world. I am 45 years old and I have changed and gone vegan in the he last six months after seeing how animals are truly treated and how bad eating meat has on the climate and world. ????????????
