The Greatest Show finalists Prospects Fraternity to open resident dance school in Westwood

Prospects Fraternity

A dance group that made it to the finals of BBC One’s The Greatest Dancer show will be setting up as a resident of a studio in Westwood.

Prospects Fraternity will be expanding their school from London, taking up a base at the Blessed Dance studios in Channel Road.

The dance group is owned by another troupe, Frobacks, which also reached the finals of the show and these dancers will be teaching the weekly classes for Prospects Fraternity Kent.

Prospects Fraternity are a street dance group from South London made up of 13 members aged between 10 and 18. Frobacks are a four-piece, male street-dancing group who like to add comedy into their routines.

Blessed Dance CO and founder Azaria Bradley said: “They are a huge deal within the dance industry and this will be their Kent home which is expanded from their current school in London. Prospects Fraternity dancers have not only danced for the BBC The Greatest Dancer but have also danced for artists such as Bruno Mars. “

The Blessed Dance studio is multi-use with other groups at the site including Bubbabumps Fitness and Zumbini classes.

Azaria, who set up the business seven years ago and has been at westwood for four years, said: “We want to show you can have one studio but that it can have lots of different companies under one roof. We work very closely with lots of dance companies in the area and we have trained a lot of dancers who have gone on to university, dance vocational colleges or bigger academies in London.

“We haven’t got a big London dance company in Thanet, other than the Pauline Quirke Academy, so we think the area will really benefit from this.”

Prospects Fraternity Kent  will be holding a free open day next Tuesday (May 7).

Visitors will be able to take a dance class with Frobacks for free, find out more information and sign up to become a member of Prospects Fraternity where they will be able to attend their weekly classes at the Thanet studio.

Azaria said: “This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Thanet and Kent based dancers to join an amazing team without having to travel to London. We have limited spaces left for the open day and we would like to open it up to the readers of The Isle of Thanet News.

“We want everyone in Thanet who is interested in dance or who is already a dancer to feel they are completely welcome to come.”

Blessed Dance Co is based at Unit J1F First floor, Channel Road, Westwood, CT9 4JS (Blessed Dance For further details or to book for the free session on May 7 email  [email protected] or call 07465200287.
