Police have made one arrest after being called to a disturbance on Margate Main Sands today (April 22).

Four cars and a police van were spotted at the scene.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to a disturbance on the beach involving a group of young people near Marine Drive in Margate at around 4.30pm.

“There were no reported injuries and officers arrested a 16-year-old boy from Gillingham on suspicion of a public order offence. He has been released pending further investigation.”

  1. Thousands in Margate Town and the beach today. Zero police presence until there was an issue. Blatant drug dealing, underage public drinking and police doing nothing. One guy got knocked out outside wetherspoons and took an ambulance over an hour to get there. Utterly ridiculous.

  2. I’ve only been in the area for a few months but have already noticed the high levels of alcohol and drug abuse . Young and old alike. There should be a much higher, noticeable police presence. At at least one ambulance within half a mile!!!

Lots of homelessness too, so the problems are theoretically 24/7.
