St Saviour’s dancers scoop regional title and head off to Great Big Dance Off finals

The St Saviour's team are the regional champs

Twenty-six children from St Saviour’s C of E Junior School in Westgate will head off to the national finals of the Great Big Dance Off.

The team, organised by teacher Natalie Lovelock and Lucy Pressley, a former student of the school, are the South East champions after winning the regional heats of the competition aimed at schools across Great Britain

They will now take part in the finals being held in Oxford on June 4.

It is not the first time that St. Saviours students have achieved dance success. They took third place in last year’s GBDO despite it being the first time they had competed at a national level. The achievement went on to contribute towards a Gold Star, awarded for PE.

Mrs Lovelock said: “They were absolutely jumping for joy when they heard they had been placed first and that’s what all the staff and parents love about them. “The crew represented St Saviours so well, they put so much energy and effort into being the best they could be and were getting up to cheer and congratulate the other school crews – such great sportsmanship.”

Mrs Lovelock, Lucy, all the dancers and parents thanked Mr Bonell for his continued help and support to enable the school dance club to shine.

Also through to the finals is the team from Palm Bay Primary School which took third place in the heats.
