Ward councillors’ library gift to Dane Valley children

Mini libraries for Dane Valley children

Two ‘mobile’ libraries are being given to children in Dane Valley as a gift from the three ward councillors.

The libraries will go to Drapers Mills School and Millmead Sure Start Centre after being organised by Cllr Gary Hillman who will be standing down from his role for the May district elections.

Fellow ward councillor Roz Dixon is also standing down. Cllr Gary Taylor remains and will be vying for votes in the district election.

Cllr Hillman said: “As a parting gift to Dane Valley residents I have organised on behalf of all three councillors to have made and purchased, two mobile children’s libraries.

“These will be installed at two locations shortly – Drapers Mill School and the Millmead Sure Start Centre. Both are worthy recipients. Children will be able to swap and borrow books to take home free of charge.

“We hope that they serve the community for years to come. Book donations will also be welcome. Special thanks to the Broadstairs Town Shed for all their help and input.”
