Ramsgate teen to compete in European Fencing Championships

Georgia Silk will represent her country

A 16-year-old from Ramsgate is one of four competitors representing Great Britain at the European Fencing Championships Juniors and Cadets starting this week in Foggia, Italy.

Chatham and Clarendon Grammar student Georgia Silk will be representing GB in both the team and individual events over the week of February 22-March 3.  Her selection is due to a fantastic season where she has taken home numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. The teen is ranked second in Great Britain.

Georgia is no stranger to international fencing, this year she has been selected for Team GB for events in Paris, Rome, Budapest and Cabries in France.

She is a non-funded athlete and is grateful to her sponsors Kent Trust for Youth Sport, Kent Sport and Gadd’s Ramsgate Brewery.

She trains with coaches Pierre Harper and Linda Strachan three times a week in east London.
