Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have made an official approach for centre-back Jacob Mensah that will see him join their academy for an agreed period of time.

It means Mensah will not be available for selection this weekend against Greenwich Borough, or any other games for the time.

Ramsgate FC are very proud to have aided Mensah in getting this opportunity.

It obviously comes as a blow to manager Nick Davis, but the Rams boss is proud of Jacob for the opportunity that has arisen.

He said: “It’s not often that a Premier League club comes in for one of your players to show his talents. I’m personally delighted for him and I wish him all the best. It shows all the hard work behind the scenes at the club.”

Paul Bowden-Brown, Director and CEO, has wished Mensah on behalf of the club the very best for this great opportunity, adding: “It goes to show the depth of our quality within the youth and the academy at Ramsgate FC.”

Mensah made his Ramsgate debut in 2016.  His best career moment was winning the Kent Cup final.
