Free music festival Rock the Pav to raise funds for charity

Free Lunch will perform at the gig

Get ready to Rock the Pav for charity tomorrow (January 20).

Admission is free to the mini festival that starts at 1pm sharp and will feature five top local bands playing up until 5pm to raise much-needed funds for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Bands lining up an afternoon of blues, rock and country at The Pavilion in Harbour Street, Broadstairs, are Luna Blues, Free Lunch, Détente, Aaron’s Aardvarks and The Travelling Philberries.

Detente

Rock the Pav2 follows the inaugural event last January that raised an impressive £1,120 for Pancreatic Cancer funds and for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Since then the bands have performed at Ramsgate Music Hall raising £530 for the MacMillan cause, while donations for the Pancreatic Cancer charity have come from bands’ individual gigs during the last 12 months.

Andy Burring and Phil Hunt who are putting on the benefit concert said: “Last year’s gig was magnificent. The Pavilion was packed, the crowd loved it, and the bands gave their all.

Aaron’s Aardvarks

“Admission is free once again for Rock the Pav2 and we hope that will encourage people to donate just as generously as they did last year.

“It is going to be a fantastic afternoon of music featuring some of our best local musicians with the first band starting at 1pm, and the whole event finishing at 5pm.

Luna Blues

“Once again we will have a great sound system and lighting and it promises to be a real community music event – please come along and make RockthePav2 a huge success; it is a fun festival in aid of a worthwhile charity.”
