The 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scouts have launched a Thanet Community Lotto page in a bid to raise funds for a new roof.
The group, based in St Crispin’s Road, have a target of £15,000 and have raised £10,000 of that.
The hope is that the funds will be in place to replace the leaking roof by August.
The scout group is run by leaders including Beckany Morriss and Gemma Lambeth for the Beavers section, Gavin Wallis for Cubs and Peter Farbrace as Scout and group Scout leader.
By joining the Thanet Lotto the group will receive 50% from ticket sales.
Section Leader Gavin said: “Our Scout Hut is in dire need of a new roof and between all the sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts we are trying to raise the roof fund but we need support.”

Sections and meeting times
- Beavers (ages 6–8) – meet Tuesday 5.15pm to 6.30pm
- Cubs (ages 8-10½) – meet Tuesday 6.45pm to 8.15pm
- Scouts (ages 10½–14) – meet Thursday 7pm to 9pm
