A 37-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of her 23-month-old twins following their deaths in Westwood yesterday.
Samantha Ford, of Castle Drive, was charged with two counts of murder following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service,.
At around 3.35am yesterday officers attended the property in Castle Drive due to concerns for the welfare of the occupants. The South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and the two toddlers, a boy and girl, were taken to hospital, where they were later declared dead.
Mrs Ford had been involved in a crash on the A299 Thanet Way around 45 minutes before police attended the address. She was taken to hospital with minor head injuries and arrested after she was discharged.
She has now been remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (December 29).
