Dreamland bosses say the park will be open for events over Christmas after concerns were raised that the site would be completely closed until Easter.
The Frosted Fairground event which took place last year, is not being repeated this year but bosses say there will be “a different offering.”
Rides and the main park are closed until next Easter but there is a programme of music and family events, including a step inside snow globe, due to be announced soon.
A spokesman said: “Dreamland is inviting visitors to ‘step inside’ this festive period as it transforms its indoor spaces to create an undercover Christmas experience with festive fun for all the family.
“While this marks a change from the ‘Frosted Fairground’ theme of previous years and the main park and rides will be closed to the public until 2019, there will be a host of exciting Christmas activities for all ages to enjoy, from a unique Dreamland Festive Shop and very special guest appearances, to a ‘step inside’ snow globe, festive entertainment and music events.
“We will shortly be announcing our full exciting Christmas line up so look out for more details.”
Events already announced include a Big Fish Little Fish festive rave on December 16 from 2pm to 4pm in the Hall By The Sea.
Tickets from £8.50 and booking fee in advance. Babes in arms / pre-walkers go free.
The event is suitable for ages 0 – 8 years.
There will also be the park’s first New Year’s Eve party with a Pendulum DJ set running from 9.30pm to 2am.
Tickets start from £30 (plus booking fee) via dreamland.co.uk.
Wow paid for a yearly family ticket for five people rides not open until Easter what a waste of money. Is Dreamland going to offer a refund for the months that we cannot use our passes?. I think not!!.
I agree with you there dreamlike are not being fair to their members.
A year`s pass , but park only open for 6 months ! How does that work ?
Dreamland doesnt seem to realise that it is their job to represent Margate all year round. Frankly you need to up your game. When Dreamland told me they didn’t want me to continue as their Fortune Teller I was gutted. Now I realise how lucky I am not to be tied to an instituion dedicated to being Part Time. Dreamland ripping off more local events and artists to steal their content and market it as their own for profit…
I’m so very disappointed that there will be no Frosted Fair Ground this year, it would have been a lovely event to have gone to. Last years visit to the Frosted Fair Ground was amazing and it would have also been great to have seen the new rides that have been added.
Merry Christmas everyone.
This is a really bad decision. We live in north Kent over an hour away and our membership is no longer valid for half of the year! What a great and generous deal! We’ve supported them since the start but this seems to be the final straw when you also consider their horrendous customer care and lack of any concern for the views of their members in 2018. Frosted Fairground should have gone ahead as planned. It’s a shambles and why bother with membership?
You should really confront Dreamland about the issue of membership or perhaps go to the media about it !
