Robert Manning went missing on July 31

Officers making enquiries to find a 53-year-old man missing from Herne Bay have been called to a report of a body.

Robert Manning, who was reported to have links with Margate, went missing after leaving his home on foot at about 1.30pm on Tuesday 31 July in the Selsea Avenue area of the town. He was last seen in Linden Road later during the same afternoon.

Police were called at 12.49pm today (August 4) to a report of a body in Oxenden Square, Herne Bay.

Patrols attended the scene and the body of a man was recovered. Mr Manning’s next of kin have been made aware although formal identification has not yet taken place.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
