Thanet’s 5v5 community football competition and multi-sports roadshow kicks off a summer holiday of sport from tomorrow (August 1).
Special guest Yofi Yvorra and his team from Margate-based professional football skills organisation, Yo Street Zone, will be demonstrating their skills and playing alongside the teams.
Open to anyone aged 8-25 years, the events are designed to bring children and young people of all ages together to play football in their local parks and open spaces. The overall aim of the series is to help young people reconnect with their local parks, as places to meet up with friends while playing sport.
The events will be at Dane Park in Margate from noon until 3pm.
Three ‘Rule the courts’ events will take place this summer and are being led by Thanet District Council sport and public health development service. The matches will be hosted using the multi-use games and ball courts.
Other events in the series take place on:
- Wednesday 15 August at Quarterdeck Youth Centre, Margate (12-3pm)
- Wednesday 29 August at Newington Community Centre (12-3pm)
An outdoor gym and boxercise will also be available as part of each event.
