Road closures following serious Birchington crash

Kent Police is currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision in Birchington.

The collision, involving a Peugeot car, happened at the junction of Shottendane Road and Manston Road at 8.25am today (Saturday 14 July).

Both Manston Road and Margate Hill and part of Shottendane Road are closed while officers deal with the incident. Local diversions are in place.

Fire crews, ambulance and the air ambulance have also been called in. Fire crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to release a casualty who was handed into the care of the ambulance service.

Inspector Ian Swallow said: “The road is likely to be closed for some time and we would ask drivers to avoid the area if at all possible.”
