Magistrates’ hearing for woman facing charges over Margate crash postponed

Vince, who was airlifted to King's College, says he may not be able to return to work

A woman due to appear in court to face charges following a serious collision in Margate which left a Birchington postman with serious injuries has had her hearing moved to next month.

Sheree Fogarty, 43, of Millmead Road, Margate, was due to answer a summons to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on July 10 where she was to face charges of driving while unfit through alcohol, failing to stop after a collision, and failing to provide a specimen of breath when required to do so.

But the hearing has been postponed and will now take place on August 9 at Margate Magistrates Court.

Kent Police was called to College Road on Saturday 6 January following to a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian. Postman Vince Marsh suffered serious injuries including four fractured ribs, a broken leg and a shattered knee cap. Vince also had pins down his leg, a fractured eye socket, deep cut to his head and scrapes and bruises.

The 59-year-old is undergoing physiotherapy to enable him to bend his knee again and will likely take until the Autumn until he is recovered enough to return to work.
