Arrest made after man wakes up to find intruder in his Ramsgate home

Police have made an arrest after a man woke up and found an intruder in his Ramsgate home in the early hours of this morning (July 11).

The victim shouted and the suspect ran away from the address in Cannon Road.

Jewellery, cash and keys were among the items believed to have been stolen.

Officers attended the scene and discovered some jewellery in the back garden of the house.

At around 1.30am a 48-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested in a nearby road on suspicion of burglary. He was also arrested on suspicion of theft after a car was stolen from outside a property in Augusta Road, Ramsgate, between Saturday 23 June and Sunday 24 June.

The man remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing.
