A film that is expected to star Anna Friel and Mark Stanley is shooting scenes on the isle today (June 26).
The full length feature, believed to be called Sulphur and White, is being filmed at Kingsgate.
According to film listing site IMBd the drama is being directed by Julian Jarrold and is written by Susie Farrell. The plot involves a connection to a South African butterfly.
Mark Stanley portrayed Grenn in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Anna Friel, who was once a Brookside soap favourite, has appeared in numerous TV and stage productions including her role as lead character Detective Sergeant Marcella Backland in the British crime drama Marcella.
Actor Dougray Scott and actress Emily Beecham also appear in the cast list published by IMDb.
Filming is also taking place at Viking Bay today and tomorrow for Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year programme.
The third and fourth heats are taking place at Viking Bay with new co-presenter actor and art-lover, Stephen Mangan, who replaces Frank Skinner, alongside Joan Bakewell.
A giant whale already in place at Victoria Gardens is Plasticus, the Sky Ocean Rescue ‘mascot’. The 10m model is made entirely of plastic waste and is aimed at raising awareness of ocean pollution.
The whale will stay on site behind the clock tower until late Wednesday afternoon. It will be lit up at night.
