
More acts and attraction have been announced for this year’s Wheels and Fins festival in Joss Bay.
The event, which runs from September 7-9, is now in its sixth year – and the 2018 event is being brought on to a national platform with some 5,000 visitors expected each day.
Headliners already announced are Faithless, The Libertines – who will curate the final day of the festival – and Feeder.
Last week The Isle of Thanet News revealed that Tim Peaks Diner would be at the festival over all three days.
The Charlatans lead singer Tim Burgess will bring the Tim Peaks travelling festival stage/ coffee shop, after getting an invite from The Libertines – there will even be a Libertines tea on offer!
Now the Tim Peaks line up of acts has also been announced.
On Friday, September 7 the Tim Peaks stage will feature Gemma Moon, Crybaby Special, Zachery Stephenson and Totally Wired DJs
On Saturday, September 8 it will be Dirty Laces, Tom ‘Mouse’ Smith, Drawstring and Totally Wired DJs and on Sunday, September 9 acts will be Deja Vega, Average Sex, Autopilot, Meister, Delights and the Totally Wired DJs.
Events include Skateboarding (UK Mini Ramp Champs), surfing, stand up paddle boarding, beach DJs, environmental workshops, lifesaving demo’s and competitions, street food, epic beverages and plenty of dancing by the sea across two stages.

More artists will be announced.
Mini Ramps

Wheels and Fins will once again host the 2018 UK Mini Ramps Champs. In 2017 the event was live streamed, in partnership with Bou Mou Productions, globally to an audience of 270,000 live viewers. It gained 2 million Facebook impressions of the competition alone in the first week after the event. Nic Powley of Skate Pharmacy will again oversee the judging with the help of Dan Cates (Death Skateboards).
This year will include the introduction of the women’s competition and Lucy Adams, of Skateboard England, will oversee this and ensure fair play.

Sam Watling of Revolution Skatepark will be running a junior competition and Marc Churchell will be present as the live stream presenter.Ben Powell will be comp MC.
King Ramps have again designed the ramp for the festival.
Prize Money will be men’s – £2000, women’s – £2000 and juniors – Prizes
The festival also offers camping, a VIP area, the Boombox Experiment with a number of nationally renowned DJ’s playing sets on Joss Bay beach and an athlete’s lounge.
The huge music line-up has been negotiated by festival organisers, brothers Dave and Dan Melmoth, and legendary Supernova Entertainments boss Richard Beck.
