This year’s By The Sea festival at Dreamland has been cancelled.

Promoters of the event, which was due to take place at the Hall by the Sea from September 28- 30, issued a statement via their social media channels yesterday (June 5) to say “a recent decrease in the saleable indoor capacity of the Hall by the Sea (means) we are no longer able to host an indoor By The Sea festival event in the same form as previous years.”

The statement adds: “September’s 2018 event is unfortunately no longer going ahead. Full refunds will be available to those who have purchased early bird tickets and we have emailed those affected with details.

“We offer out sincere apologies to all our loyal festival-goers and hope you understand this was something beyond our control.”

It is hoped the 2019 festival will take place in the Summer of that year.

Last year the event took place at venues across Margate, including Dreamland, Margate Winter Gardens, Olby’s Soul Café and Margate Museum.

Headliners included The LibertinesEverything Everything and Metronomy.
