A fairytale children’s hair salon has opened in a Margate ‘enchanted garden’

A magical hair salon for children in an ‘enchanted garden’ has opened in Margate Old Town.

Pixie Dust salon is the next fairytale addition to the Happily Ever Afters tea and party rooms in Market Place.

The shop opened last August after being transformed by dance school owner Heidi Moran and her team to create a downstairs enchanted garden party room, dance class area, tea room and even a pirate-themed toilet.

In April an amazing staircase featuring classic fairytale books was added and now the venue features the salon behind a magical set of doors which open out to create the salon and then shut it away again when the area is being used as a party space.

Mum-of-two Heidi is no stranger to the world of theatrics, she has been running Zest performing arts academy and the Stage Door theatre company in Ramsgate for more than 10 years and the Happily Ever After Princess Agency, which supplies characters for the Make A Wish foundation, since 2011.

Her team of characters are an integral part of the Happily Ever Afters shop and each new addition adds to the fairytale theme.

Heidi said: “Pixie Dist salon is a great addition alongside what we already offer and there isn’t really anything like it in Thanet.

“Children can transport to a fairytale, enchanted garden and feel at ease and as if the haircut is part of an adventure..

“There is one set price for all cuts of £8, which is cheaper than when I take my son to the barbers, plus you get all of the magical extras. A first haircut package is £10 and includes the cut, plus certificate and hair keepsake.

“I wanted to open it as I took my little girl all the way to Chelsea Kings Road for something similar when she was little and so thought it would be great to have it locally.

“We have two qualified hairdressers, Kayleigh, who is also assistant manager of the tearoom, and Tasha, who has just joined the team.

“We are open Wednesday 11am-5pm and Friday 12-5pm and there are pop ups occasionally on Sundays for those who work in the week, or cannot make after school visits.

“The tearoom is open during this time too for treats afterwards as a reward and for mums to relax and chill out. We will also be offering pamper packages and parties through the party side of the company.”
