Court date for man ‘tasered’ by police officers in Margate

Officers with the man at the Canterbury Road roundabout

A man who was apparently tasered by police officers in Margate yesterday (May 7) has been bailed to appear before magistrates on May 31.

Officers had stopped several vehicles at the Canterbury Road roundabout at Station Approach when a man began shouting at them.

Witnesses say that after trying, and failing, to reason with him, officers used the taser.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a disturbance in Marine Terrace, Margate, at 7.18pm on Monday 7 May. Officers attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

Gary Long, 22, of Broadstairs, was later charged with being drunk and disorderly and was bailed to appear at court on May 31.
