The amazing staircase in Margate leading to an ‘enchanted garden’ party room

The fairytale stairs lead to an enchanted garden party room

Families can step into a fairytale world of princesses, pirates and fantastic characters in Margate Old Town with the creation of this amazing staircase.

The steps, featuring classic fairytale books, were painted by a member of the Happily Ever Afters team at the shop in Market Place.

The ‘book’ staircase, completed by staff member Kenzi in around a week, leads families from the tea room to the enchanted garden party room – complete with magical wishing tree and fairytale murals.

The Happily Ever Afters tea and party rooms were opened last August at the former Oasis shop.

The property was transformed by dance school owner Heidi Moran (pictured, centre) and her team to include the downstairs enchanted garden party room, dance class area, tea room and even a pirate-themed toilet.

The 32-year-old mum-of-two is no stranger to the world of theatrics, she has been running Zest performing arts academy and the Stage Door theatre company in Ramsgate for more than 10 years and the Happily Ever After Princess Agency, which supplies characters for the Make A Wish foundation, since 2011.

And the new staircase is proving a hit.

Heidi said: “I had the idea as I wanted to create even more of a fairytale experience and loved the idea of the stairs looking like a stack of books.

“We chose some classic tales and had the design painted. It has been so popular with customers and visitors from all over the world having their photo with them.

“We had more than 2000 visitors over the Easter Holidays and the stairs were very popular, as well as our magical wishing tree and the fairytale murals in the enchanted garden party room.”

Happily Ever Afters has five staff, all from Heidi’s performing arts company, who take on roles from princesses to Tinkerbell to make youngsters’ parties magical.

And there is even more on offer with morning activities and dance fun to afternoon teas and regular workshops.

There is also the pop-up PixieDust hair salon offering packages from a first haircut  through to pamper parties and  a boy’s section.

The boutique offers everything from tiaras to tutus and the sweet treat parlour, which has a 5 star hygiene rating, will satisfy any sweet tooth with cakes, cones, ice creams and more.
