Your chance to tee off in aid of Oasis Domestic Abuse Service

The golf committee is organising the fundraising event

A committee of golfers is working alongside Thanet based charity, Oasis Domestic Abuse Service, to stage a fundraising golf day at North Foreland Golf Club in Broadstairs.

The event will take place on Friday, June 15 with a shotgun start at 12:30pm.

Before teeing off guests can enjoy coffee and bacon rolls in the clubhouse bar while taking in the views over the North Foreland course and coastline. Teams of 4 will then head out for 18 holes of golf. Competitions and winners’ prizes are included in the price of the day as is a meal which will be served back at the Clubhouse once all have completed play.

The committee, which includes; club chairman Keith Rumblo, vice chairman Mike Bastow, Community Fundraiser Dee Neligan, Maggie Elliot, as well as Oasis Chairman Derrick Downs, has been working hard to ensure the day is a great success with support from the club manager and several other players.

Mr Bastow said: “North Foreland Golf Club is proud to be able to host this prestigious golf charity event. Oasis is a very worthwhile charity providing a vital service to those who are vulnerable within our community.”

Crucial to the success of the event will be the charity auction which is being run by committee members. Barclays Bank has generously agreed to match fund every penny spent in both the auction and raffle and there is  sponsorship from Thanet Rotary Club, and isle businesses Lanes Printers of Broadstairs and Artemis Recruitment.

Funds raised on the day will support Oasis, which offers emergency, safe and temporary accommodation as well as ongoing support for families who have suffered domestic abuse. The team works to keep victims safe and help rebuild lives free from abuse.

Community fundraiser Dee Neligan said: ‘We have been absolutely delighted by the ongoing support we have received from the club, businesses and the local golfing community in staging the Oasis’ golf event, following on from the success that we had at last year’s golf day. This support is vital to raise the funds we need to help the vulnerable people living amongst us affected by domestic abuse.”

There is still an opportunity for firms or individuals to get involved, anybody wishing to sponsor a hole or donate an auction prize should get in touch.

Tickets cost £56 for non-club members or £30 for members.
