A charity event celebrating International Women’s Day and raising funds for Stone Bay School has brought in £500.

The even, which included food, speakers, a raffle and entertainment, was organised by Raushan Ara, a Ramsgate businesswoman and mum to a former Stone Bay pupil Junyard.

The cash will be used towards paying for a sensory room for autistic students.

Raushan said: “I would like to thank all the people who gave their time to support the event and for their very generous donations. A special thanks to Sabina Desir and Black Bard who performed at the event, and the local businesses and community for donating food and raffle prizes.

“Rezaur and I would also like to thank all the staff of Stone Bay school for the excellent care they provide to students including our son who has spent many happy years at the school. “

Head teacher, Billy McInally thanked Raushan for all she has done, and continues to do, for the school.

He said: “The donation will be used to help develop a sensory space for autistic learners who are at the very beginning of school subject based learning.”
