A 50 ft inflatable whale theatre installation and Shaun the Sheep Championsheeps are promised for the Easter season at Dreamland when the park reopens on March 30.
But there will also now be a charge with a Day Dreamer entrance ticket costing £5. The ticket is redeemable against a single go on a ride of a visitor’s choice, or the daily Day Dreamer food and drink offer.
Disabled carers visiting with a paying guest and those under 90cm are free to enter at all times. Those with membership also get unlimited entry and use of rides.
New attractions
From the opening day until April 5 children can experience The Whale, a true-to-life size inflatable sperm whale theatre installation. Brave swashbucklers can watch ‘The Pirate Misadventure’ show, a highly entertaining performance in the belly of the whale set in a decorated seascape interior.
Visitors will encounter a shipwrecked Pirate with a treasure tale to tell and meet a real life Mermaid with a haunting siren’s song and intriguing secret. The show will be on six times a day and lasts 20 minutes.
There will also be Pop-up Entertainment around the park daily from 11am to 6pm, including: ‘Salana’, a grey seal who flaps her way through the crowds making friends; The Scuba Car, which magically transforms into an aquarium on four wheels and Bosun Barnacle & Cap’n Short Joan Silver, two scurvy pirates in boats moving their way round the park on stilts.
There is plenty going on too in the Hall by the Sea, where international Club DJ and BBC radio presenter Gilles Peterson will be headlining in the evening on Friday 30 March.
Big Fish Little Fish X Camp Bestival Family Rave provides afternoon family fun on Saturday 31 March, followed by Totally Wired’s biggest party ever in the evening. Tickets available from dreamland.co.uk/events.
From March 30-April 15 there will be a chance to visit the Dreamland Ark. Expect an educational and fun experience with weird, wonderful and cute animals, open from noon to 4pm.
On April 6 meet Peter Rabbit and listen to story time with the timeless, mischievous hero who is currently featuring on the big screen. Various meeting times between noon to 4pm with story time taking place at the end of the day
Visitors can also watch the British Juggling Convention (BJC) who will be performing breathtaking juggling, spinning and hooping shows and running workshops from noon to 3pm.
From April 7-15 families can take part in Shaun The Sheep’s Championsheeps Live. Join Shaun and friends for village fete themed fun, in a line-up of up to eight different activities from hula hooping to jumping around a fun farmyard setting, from noon to 4pm.
Those visiting at Easter will also be able to witness local artist Daniel Webb’s ‘Everyday Plastic’ art installation in the park, which is the second of five commissions for the ‘Mural-by-the-Sea’ project.
Dreamland will also be opening a number of new rides for the summer, from family friendly to thrill seeker.
The ever-popular Sunset Sessions will return to the Scenic Stage from May 4 with Craig Charles headlining. David Rodigan will play on May 26 and Norman Jay is booked for June 9. Tickets will be priced at £5 or £2.50 for members and are on sale now via dreamland.co.uk/events.
Other acts for the season include Fleetmac Wood, a DJ set that brings exclusive remixes and edits crafted for the dancefloor, on May 26.
New prices
A new pricing structure will also be brought in from March 30.
The Day Dreamer entrance ticket will be introduced, costing £5. The ticket is redeemable against a single go on a ride of a visitor’s choice, or the daily Day Dreamer food and drink offer. Those wishing to take advantage of unlimited rides will still be able to buy a wristband to ride all day.
If at any time a guest with a Day Dreamer ticket wishes to upgrade to use all of the rides, then, if not already redeemed, the Day Dreamer can be put towards purchasing a wristband whilst on the park.
Disabled carers visiting with a paying guest and those under 90cm are free to enter at all times.
There are also discounts available for groups of over 10 and those wishing to buy a two-day pass.
