Police witness appeal for police car and van crash in Westbrook

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash between a police car and a flatbed van in Westbrook yesterday (January 24)

The collision was on the A28 Canterbury Road at the junction with Westbrook Cottages at 1.05pm.

A police car travelling from Margate to Westgate and Ford Transit flatbed vehicle which had been travelling in the opposite direction were involved.

The driver of the police car was taken to William Harvey hospital with a serious back injury. The driver of the Ford Transit was uninjured.

The road was re-opened at 5.47pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles prior to the collision, who have not yet spoken to police or who have dash cam footage, to make contact with the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 or email [email protected] quoting reference MC/DC/013/18.
